Part 2

Singapore: 22 May

It was sheer luck and chance that my friends and I saw our prince enjoying his sun bath at the hotel roof top swimming pool.  He was easily recognizable even though he covered his head with a straw hat and towel on top – he wore the same swim shorts he had worn many, many times before.  May be we should get him a new pair of swim suit as his birthday present!

Food was indeed important to our prince, as he told us during the concert that he loved Singapore and he loved chili crab and butter crab.  He also proved himself to be a “daughter’s fool” again when he chose his girl.  He stopped his camera at a little girl in pink, moved away but couldn’t help getting back to her again.  He gestured her to go up on stage, the girl’s mother helping too, but the little girl was too shy and probably a bit frightened and shook her head.  Seeing this, our prince bent his head, knelt down on the stage, feigning defeat.

But our prince was not going to give up easily.  He pointed to the little girl and said “I will be waiting for you”.  During the encore, he went down the stage to the girl.  This time we saw the little girl smiling, nodding her head and waving to our prince.  Our prince was pleased and satisfied.  Still, before he disappeared behind the stage at the end of the concert, he pointed to the girl again and said “I will be waiting for you”.

It was all fun but it also said a lot to me about our prince.  It’s not that he must have the little girl’s affection.  In fact he had subsequently chosen a very lovely girl and they made a very sweet pair on stage.  But this “I will win you over” attitude was always there throughout his career path.  And he always succeeded, like he did with this little girl!

It was therefore not surprising when he asked “Everybody stand up” and then stopped the music, like he did at the Thailand concert.  But this time he was very serious and even asked the lights to be out.  Only when he’s satisfied with the response then he resumed his performance.  He dared to challenge, because he had the confidence.  My heart missed a beat when he asked the lights to be out, but I felt so proud of him afterwards.  The reward was his super sweet and cute smiles as he taught us the dance moves for “With You”.

I felt strongly that our prince was indeed a superstar with charisma and charm.

Shanghai: 25 May

I had a front seat facing the center of the stage, so I was hoping to enjoy a close,  good view of our prince’s performance.  However as soon as the concert started, many fans rushed to the front of the stage and I suddenly became quite far back.  Worse still, fans in front of me started to stand on the chairs in order to have a better view, blocking my sight (and many others) totally.  I was forced to take off my shoes to stand on my chair as well, but was tapped on the shoulder by people behind me asking me to get down.

I promptly obliged, put my shoes back on (wasting much more time doing so) and I tried to tap the fans in front of me asking them to get down from their chairs.  They ignored me.  So we went another round and I heard shouts from fans behind to those in front, and retorts back and forth.  Meanwhile we all tried our best to keep our eyes and ears focused on our prince.

It became too distracting.  Finally I decided to stay put and watch our prince and those fans who invaded to the front of the stage as ONE party performing.  And I noticed how our prince was trying to embrace as many of the fans as possible.  He often walked close to the edges of the stage, bent down and touched hands with the fans.  He probably shook the most hands in the Shanghai concert than any others.   Of course what he did caused more fans to rush to the front.  The Rainism had indeed taken over our souls and got our bodies lose control.  Crowds moved as our prince moved – you had to be deft in your maneuver to stay close to him.

It was a happy concert, especially for the crowd in front.  Our prince was in good mood too, so much so when we all thought the concert was over, as the stage door was closing, our prince suddenly kicked the door open.  The party continued.  Then the stage door was closing and there he was, kicking it open again.  So we had another round of jump, jump.  For the last round, his foot stayed on the door to keep it open for a last while, but we knew the party had to come to an end.

Seeing the happy crowd and seeing how our prince responded to them I forgave those fans who rushed to the front.  For some or many of them, this might be their last chance to get close to our prince before a gap of two years or even more.  Our prince clearly understood and responded to this.

I felt slightly sad after the concert because I knew there were many more fans further away who were waiting for a chance to get close to our prince too.  To many of them, it might be a very long wait indeed.  I knew our prince knew that and would want to be close to them too.

Guangzhou: 28 May

I could not forget they way our prince moved his head slowly across the stadium, and I knew he was happy and impressed by what he saw. A full house audience, all flashing their colourful light sticks.  It was magnificent.  He responded to our loud and passionate cheers and together we brought his Asia tour to a grand finale.

The security staff were very fierce and strict. Whenever we stood up we were being ordered to sit down again by loads of staff.  So we were like having a continuous wave all the time - one block of fans stood up as soon as the security staff ran over to the other block ordering fans to sit down and vice versa.  And we all shot up triumphantly when our prince said “everybody, stand up” – I felt like our prince was helping us!  Thank you, prince!

I had to mention that our prince had a fleeting visit to Hong Kong the day before the Guangzhou concert.  Raincloudhk organized banner and special support cards for their members to welcome our prince.  They missed him at the airport, but gave him the loudest cheer and support when he was at the MCM flag ship store grand opening ceremony.  We were sad there would not be a concert in Hong Kong, but fans decided to use this opportunity to tell our prince how much we loved him and we would wait for him.

So it was very touching during the concert in Guangzhou that our prince acknowledged the sign boards and said out loud “Hong Kong”.  He even asked us how to say “I love you” in Cantonese (the dialect most commonly used in Hong Kong).  And while we expected him to say the words he said “thank you” in Cantonese instead, showing off his Cantonese dialect skill!  He mentioned Hong Kong a couple of times and we knew this was his way to show his appreciation and his gratitude.  Thank you, prince!  We appreciated this and were very grateful too.

Towards the end of the concert our prince gave a very short speech about the importance of environmental protection, and asked that we all do our part.  I remembered his lecture before and I saw Professor Rain and Ambassador Rain and Superstar Rain all blended beautifully in him.

The encore was long and happy.  He pulled out the stage staff to jump, he took pictures of us and of his dancers, he walked down the stage and had to quickly go up again when fans all abandoned their seats and rushed to the fence trying to get close to him.  He showed off his street dance moves but had to rub his back afterwards.  He and us could go on all night, but his dancers held him and threw him up hip hip hurray in the air, and we knew the party had to end.

Before he disappeared he gave us one last special treat – his sexy and cute bunny hip dance.

Instead of saying goodbye, we would be counting the days when we would meet you again, dear prince!
